Now back to the main page.

Bournemouth, Corfe Castle, Dorchester and our cycling - all faded on this day of cycling in the face of the protagonist: the great English rain!

The rain charged since the evening and continued in the morning. There was no particular desire to leave the hospitable house in Bournemouth, but it was necessary to hurry. The fact is that in the summer, starting at 10 am, the Bournemouth embankment is closed to bicycles. I assume that usually at this time there are a lot of people and cyclists simply interfere with pedestrians.

Of course, we did not interfere with anyone, since besides us, only three brave runners turned out to be on the street under the downpour. The rain was unpleasant but tolerable, and I even managed to photograph the famous Bournemouth beach cabanas, painted in all the colors of the rainbow.

At first, the rain didn't really scare me, because we had a lot of waterproof and windproof equipment. And in the end, to be afraid of rain - do not go to England.

After a few kilometers, we ran into another ferry, this time self-propelled. Although, perhaps, it is not called that at all. This vessel, rattling its chains like the Canterville ghost, brought us safely to the opposite shore. There they had to decide: go directly to Dorchester or make a ten-kilometer detour to look at famous castle Corfe Castle and the village of the same name.

By this point, all our waterproof shoes and clothes were safely flooded with water, in such weather the castle worried us the least, so a courageous decision was made to abandon sightseeing. But it was not there. The bike path was washed out a little more than completely, so in the end you still had to go along highway right in Corfe Castle. Corfe Castle, like any decent castle, stands not just on a hill, but on the highest hill in the vicinity, so the next 10 kilometers were quite painful.

But here it is, the castle. More precisely, what was left of him. What was left of me at this point looked much worse than these ruins. I think that in good weather these places are very cool: you can hike, explore the village, and enjoy the ruins of the castle.

Meanwhile, the rain intensified, although this had previously seemed impossible. And, having reached the city of Wareham, I realized that we would not go far like that: we had to take the train. In general, I am always very critical of those who cut their bike path, travel by train or taxi, but there was no choice. Another 35 kilometers in such conditions is too much. Thank God, there was a train station in Warham, the train arrived quite quickly, so after 20 minutes we were driving towards Dorchester. From the cold, my tooth did not fall on the tooth, but I still had to endure a little more.

Another surprise was waiting for us right on the platform: no barrier-free environment at the station in Dorchester was clearly heard. Everything is like at the best stations in Moscow and the Moscow region with the ascent to one high staircase and the descent from the other. With two bicycles and two bags. Silently accepting this test too (ok, not quite silently, I had something to say about this), we finally went to our hotel, where we waited for the long-awaited hot shower and hanging and unfolding things on all free surfaces. I still couldn’t believe that now everything would be “comfortable and dry”, and quite rightly: after 15 minutes, the roof of the room leaked, and the rain began to flood the walls, the battery and our already wet things. “Tell me, Savva, my dear! Will it ever end?” I wanted to exclaim tragically. But instead, I had to follow the manager, move to a new room, ask them to turn on individual heating there, and again go through the procedure of hanging things.

And then all of a sudden it stopped raining. It feels like someone just flipped a switch. The sun even came out for a short five minutes :) We immediately went for a walk in the center of Dorchester. But the biggest joy of the evening was the purchase of giant waterproof pants with a tag saying Inspired by great British weather. So now the rain was not terrible for us!

An excerpt characterizing Bournemouth

- After Austerlitz! said Prince Andrei gloomily. - Not; I humbly thank you, I promised myself that I would not serve in the active Russian army. And I won't if Bonaparte was standing here, near Smolensk, threatening the Bald Mountains, and then I wouldn't serve in the Russian army. Well, so I told you, - Prince Andrei continued calming down. - Now the militia, the father is the commander-in-chief of the 3rd district, and the only way for me to get rid of the service is to be with him.
- So you serve?
- I serve. He paused a little.
So why are you serving?
- But why. My father is one of the most remarkable people of his age. But he is getting old, and not only is he cruel, but he is too active in nature. He is terrible because of his habit of unlimited power, and now this power given by the Sovereign to the commander-in-chief of the militia. If I had been two hours late two weeks ago, he would have hanged the recorder in Yukhnov, ”said Prince Andrei with a smile; - I serve this way because no one except me has influence on my father, and in some places I will save him from an act from which he would later suffer.
- Ah, so you see!
- Yes, mais ce n "est pas comme vous l" entendez, [but this is not how you understand it,] continued Prince Andrei. - I didn’t and don’t wish the slightest good for this bastard recorder who stole some boots from the militias; I would even be very pleased to see him hanged, but I feel sorry for my father, that is, again for myself.
Prince Andrei became more and more animated. His eyes shone feverishly while he tried to prove to Pierre that there had never been a desire for good for his neighbor in his act.
“Well, now you want to free the peasants,” he continued. - This is very good; but not for you (I think you didn't spot anyone or send them to Siberia), and even less so for the peasants. If they are beaten, flogged, sent to Siberia, then I think that this does not make them any worse. In Siberia, he leads the same bestial life, and the scars on his body will heal, and he is as happy as he was before. And this is necessary for those people who perish morally, earn themselves repentance, suppress this repentance and become rude because they have the opportunity to execute right and wrong. That's who I feel sorry for, and for whom I would like to free the peasants. You may not have seen, but I have seen how good people, brought up in these traditions of unlimited power, become more irritable with the years, become cruel, rude, they know it, they cannot restrain themselves, and everything becomes more and more unhappy. - Prince Andrei said this with such enthusiasm that Pierre involuntarily thought that these thoughts were induced by Andrei by his father. He didn't answer him.

A huge achievement for the whole city of Bournemouth was the arrival of the A.F.C. Bournemouth to the Premier League Football Championship following the 2014/2015 season. It is worth noting that the Bournemouth football team is confidently in the middle of the standings of the English Football Championship 2016/2017, often gives battle to the favorites - the top teams of the English Premier League. Upon arrival in Bournemouth at the bus station, students are usually met by our representative or family, where accommodation is booked or the student gets on their own by taxi around the city. We also draw the attention of students who come to Bournemouth to study English at language schools, that the city has many sports clubs, swimming pools, tennis courts, there is even an indoor ice palace - in other words, all conditions have been created for comfortable learning and useful pastime after study.
