We didn't chase high level service, but were looking for a hotel with a good coral reef, normal food and developed infrastructure. We were very pleased with our choice of the Dreams Beach hotel.
The hotel is old, the reception has a hint of ancient pomposity, the water is constantly making noise in an impromptu fountain. Upon arrival, they handed passports to the receptionists with 20 dollars and asked for a room on the second floor (I'm terribly afraid of all living creatures), preferably with a hint of a sea view. They gave a good room, next to the sports ground, with a side view of the sea. It took only 5 minutes to walk to the left side of the beach, the same amount to the reception and the main restaurant. The room was cleaned by a young man very responsibly. On the days when we left tips, he folded animal figures from towels and blankets. The furnishings and furniture in the room are old, the room itself is not very big. It was a little cramped for us, considering that an extra bed was put up for our son.
Now about the main thing - the beach. The beach is conditionally divided into 2 parts. We preferred the left side, which is closer to our number. Descent to the left side by stairs, descent to the right side along a steep path (suitable for families with children in prams). A path under a rock connects both sides of the beach, a very romantic place, if not for the smell of stagnant water. The entrance to the sea is by pontoons, on the left side there is a shallow water for children. The coral reef is interesting, but to see something big, you need to come to the sea early.
Meals at the hotel for every taste. Plenty of food, you can eat everywhere. The main restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The grill restaurant is open on the beach for lunch daily, for dinner by appointment once a week. Additionally, there are Mexican and Italian restaurants by appointment once a week. The Mexican was very tasty, but the Italian was not. The food is the same every day, but if someone complains, then don't believe it. For 10 days we were not able to try all the dishes. The tables were really bursting with abundance. A lot of chicken, meat, side dishes, specific oriental salads, desserts, fruits. Drinks are powdered, there are all kinds of soda, beer and wine are normal, strong alcohol was not consumed.
The spa center is very decent, the gym is almost new, there is no variety of exercise equipment, but the most basic is present. Animation invites to all entertainment and sporting events. The whole day they work, tirelessly neither hands nor feet. Evening shows weak. Played tennis during daylight hours for free 1 time by prior reservation. Chosen to the city. Walked to the left of the hotel, there are shops and a shopping area.
We booked excursions to Jerusalem, Petra and the Colored Canyon. We took everything on the Internet, on arrival we bought a local SIM card and agreed by phone with Red Sea Travel (so you can score them in a search engine), then paid for excursions when leaving the hotel. The child endured all the hardships well, we also liked everything.
We were very pleased with the hotel and plan to return next year.

Hotel and room

The first thing that surprised us was that at the entrance to the hotel we were rummaged hand luggage. This was not the case before.

We had room 3620 in building 36 on the second floor. In the hotel, odd numbers are on the first floor, even numbers are on the second. Almost all rooms on the second floor of buildings 16-22, 34-36 have a partial sea view - pay extra for sea ​​view not worth it.

The room has relatively new furniture, new TV 32” (2 Kyiv + 2 Moscow channels), the refrigerator is old and does not cool well. The bathroom has a bidet and a sit-down 3-coal bath. Room 5 is coal and small - bed 3 can hardly be accommodated. The beds are soft, the linen is white and fresh. The latch on the front door did not work (it was repaired) and the lock on the right wing of the balcony door (it was simply blocked). Surprised by the presence of the 2nd washbasin in the hallway of the room. The room is quiet (as requested at the reception for $20). Hairdryer, air conditioner and safe worked well. Hot water there is always, but the sink in the bathroom is leaking.

It was very annoying that for the first 6 days of our vacation, the card from the number was blocked 5 times. Scheme: at 12-50 (we go to lunch) everything works, at 14-00 (after returning from lunch) - the card is blocked by reception workers - this is how they extort money. In the heat, running to the reception and back is very uncomfortable. After the scandal, the last 3 days the card worked fine.

From building 36 to the main pool - 150 m, to the reception - about 250 m.

The main pool is shallow (mostly 1 m), water polo and aqua aerobics take place in it, and there is especially nowhere to swim in it. There is water slide. However, it is old and it is dangerous to ride on it - I knocked down a bone on my right leg to the point of blood.

The territory of the hotel is shared with the Dreams vacation hotel, i.e. In the evening there is where to walk. At the beginning of Dreams vacation there is a "bird paradise" - 5-6 cages with a variety of wild and domestic birds.

Hotel guide Anex tour

His name is Essam Eldin Mohamed. He made an appointment for us at 8-45, knowing what it was best time for the morning beach, and for breakfast. Moreover, he is at the reception from 8 to 13 hours and from 17-30 to 20-30. Those. he chose the most inconvenient time for tourists to meet. For any question about the hotel, his answer is: "Contact the reception." He was rude, rude and yelled at us, said that he would not answer our phone calls and in general "... I do not respect you." For some reason, I compared photos in passports - this had never happened before. It seems that it is not we who pay him for the work, but he pays us.

Of course, after such an appeal, we did not book excursions through him, but ordered them at the neighboring travel agency "Gena and Cheburashka", where we were greeted very friendly.

Those. Essam Eldin Mohamed does not know how to work with people and is clearly out of place.

It is probably right to ask the transfer guide directly on the bus from the airport to reschedule the meeting time with the hotel guide at a convenient time for you. Or come to the hotel guide when it is convenient for you - it is not for nothing that he sticks out at the reception 7 hours a day.

Number extension

As guest-relationship Irina said, these rules change all the time. They extended our room until 6:00 pm for $30, and the bracelets were not cut off, because we missed lunch on the first day. Those. if on the first day you missed lunch, then you check in at 12-00 (or pay extra for its extension), but the bracelets are not cut off for you - go and have lunch.

The hotel has a somewhat unusual beach. It is divided into terraces and two horizontal sections connected by a concrete path, but there are not always enough places close to the entrances to the water. I was surprised by the stone loungers, as well as a small number of umbrellas that poorly protect from the sun. Most of the plastic sunbeds on the beach are old and worn out. Two stairs lead to the beach (140 and 147 steps) or you can go down to it along a smooth road to the beach bar. The elevator to the beach is located at the very end of the hotel and it is inconvenient to use it - it takes about 200 m to go to the sea from it.

Of the three entrances to the sea, a 4-meter pier was closed (a ladder broke off) and was used by divers.

Already after 15-00 on the beach at the 60-meter flooded pier there is no sun due to the overhanging rock. The beach near this pier is very hot due to the lack of wind. This is a winter, not an autumn beach. At 60 m of the pier, even with a calm sea, periodically waves of 50-70 cm are unpleasant. Therefore, we used a 20 m pier with 2 ladders.

Coral is more interesting to the north (i.e. to the left, if you face the sea). For 9 days it was not possible to see a single fish larger than 70 cm. True, outside the hotel's beach I saw a turtle and a stingray. In general, there are few fish and the coral is not very interesting.

Flocks of 30-60 pigeons periodically fly over the beach, which then shit on the second floors of hotel buildings.

Food

In the main restaurant (it is near the reception) there was: chicken, turkey, beef (often inedible), horse mackerel, fish cakes, tuna and, unfortunately, often pangasius. All this is given out on the veranda in portions by chefs. Free access to beef stew. Fruits included dates, melons, grapes, pears, oranges, guava, and pomegranates.

For some reason, very often there were no chopped tomatoes - only cucumbers + cabbage + peppers (we don’t take salads, especially with dressing, in hotels).

Alcohol is simply terrible - the strength of "vodka" and "brandy" is 20-25%. The taste of all "strong" drinks is the same. White and red wines are carbonated and bad tasting. Beer, more or less.

The main restaurant has a bar where you can order your own drinks instead of waiting for the waiter. Always freely available: coffee, tea, hot and hungry water + 3 chemical "juices".

You won't be hungry - there are different dishes for lunch and dinner every day.

The problem is to visit a la carte restaurants - you need to sign up 4-6 days in advance. We were only able to visit the Italian restaurant by the main pool - nothing special.

Weather

The first 3 days it was very hot - 37-38 degrees. day and no wind. Until you get to the room or to the restaurant - all wet (it was especially unpleasant to go to the reception and back when the card from the room did not work). The weather was the same on 09/30/18. Sea - 28-30 degrees. There were no storms and big waves, because. the hotel is in the bay

Animation

It is - and charging, and water aerobics, and boccia, and darts. But there is no free billiards. To get to it, you need to find animators after 20-00 who have the key to it, but this is not realistic.

Evening shows were every day at 22-00 (after dinner). I liked the fire show, the rest not so much.

Tourists

From 22.09 to 25.09 the hotel was filled by about 30-40% (there were no empty seats in the restaurant) and there were no places on the beach (so as not to walk 120-150 m to the 20 m surface pier) was not. Then the filling of the hotel fell by 2-2.5 times and there were always free places on the beach near the beach bar where pancakes are prepared. We chose this beach because there was always at least a slight breeze there, and it was not so hot. Approximately 50% of vacationers are Russian speakers, there were only a few groups of Arabs, there were Poles, Czechs, Germans and English speakers.

Read and make the right choice.
First of all, I probably want to appeal to those who generally go on vacation abroad for the first time, do not write reviews immediately after your first visit to a hotel like All inclusive!!! Of course, you'll love it either way! In this case, the reviews were probably written by 90 percent of those who vacationed abroad for the first time, which is actually where the rating is 4.4, and then people like me read everything seems to be fine and the price is ridiculous, and then they curse the day when they took a ticket to such a hotel

Now about the hotel itself. Having been here, I had the idea that 5 * hotels should be further divided into subcategories, that is, if it’s like 5 *, then you still need to put a number next to it to understand where you are going, because 5 * is the same, you know, it’s doubtful 5 or not 5 So, this one would have a 3- second rating. We paid $700-750 for 9 nights for two. It is better to pay extra 100-200 $, albeit for 7 days, but it’s okay to relax in good hotel. We flew there and back three hours later.
I won’t complain about the room, everything worked, it was cleaned, surprisingly nothing was torn off, the furniture was shabby, but we attribute this to the fact that this is Egypt. The minus of the room is that if you want to take a cool shower at the peak of the heat, at one or two days, then roll up your lip, because the water from the tap is hot and very hot. The room in building 24 was on the 2nd floor (2412). Another minus is the balcony door. This is a gesture, it is almost impossible for girls with a manicure to open it! Then all the strength must be applied to push it back. It's funny they give 1.5 liters of water per room! Are you seriously? I explain to those who thought that this is enough. In Egypt, even teeth are not recommended to be cleaned with tap water. So, we were alone, the bottle was enough for us, roughly speaking, for a day. Brush your teeth in the morning and evening, drink and that's it. How about making tea or coffee? And there is nowhere else to get water! Unless you throw away the bottle, go to the bar and stand scooping glasses from the cooler. What if there are three or four people in your room? I hope it's clear.

Food ... We got into Ramadan (google for those who don't know). In the first two or three days we began to see clearly. Dry and hard rice (this is the same dish), half-baked potatoes, chicken, beans, something else, it was impossible to eat sweet, fruit. And this is all very, very sad. We are in Egypt for the third time, and were in other countries in fours, believe me, we saw much better. When Ramadan ended, then it started ... they can cook something else! Pizza, fish, liver, spaghetti and a kilometer long queue. What is the point. Ramadan ended on June 4, and from that day locals poured into this hotel! I just have never seen so many of them in my life. Ukrainians and Russians are impudent, ill-mannered and pigs??? Oh sure! It's good that we were leaving 6, and on that very day, while we were waiting at the reception for a transfer, a lot of them arrived (see photo)
The weather is also just awful, I don’t know how people go there to relax in the summer? It's 40 degrees there at night!
The beach... to get there you have to walk for 10 minutes, depending on where your room is. In general, not bad, three pontoons, which is very good, for this they are really a plus. The water is warm but stormy in the morning. Minus the sunbeds. Do you want to find that he was normal? Do not look, out of 10 you can find 1 (see photo) Were in a la carte Grill House and Fish market, better than in the main "restaurant"

The water in the pool is very warm, it will not cool down. Umbrellas by the pool are kapets guys! How could this be done? Sorry, I didn't have time to take a picture.

Beverages. Gin with the smell of acetone, beer is an incomprehensible liquid similar to beer, my husband drank rum and cola, but it’s not really. The wine is disgusting, I have never drunk worse in my life.

Animation is a separate issue, no animation no talk. Everything happens only in the heat and only by the pool, sometimes they do something in the evening. Dinner from 19.00, animation at 22.00. The question is, if at 7 pm you ate for half an hour, what to do for another 2.5 hours?
The fact that the staff does not understand nifiga in Russian is true. She explained to one what rum and cola is, without exaggeration.
We went to the pyramids from the annex tour. Instead of the promised 5 hours of travel in a comfortable bus with a toilet, the Internet, we got at least 8 hours of travel, if I can’t go to the toilet at all, and only a little. Internet? What are you, we're driving through the desert there, the connection disappears, and almost twisted at the temple. We drove at two o'clock in the afternoon through the desert, that is, the peak of the heat, the air conditioner simply could not cope. For a moment, in the Dominican Republic, the annex tour bus is many times better, more comfortable and really has internet. If you plan to go to the pyramids in advance, you should know, do not pay extra for camels !!! You will not have free time, they stupidly sip you in the heat in places where you can take pictures against the backdrop of the pyramids and that's it. You won't be able to walk where you want to. If you really want to ride camels, take a separate tour with ATVs, it will be more interesting. Just keep in mind that if you take ATVs to a tour operator, it’s only a chain to go!
